York Izaak Walton #67
hosts a monthly family oriented Fun Shoot, January through
October. Generally they are on the 4th Saturday of the
month, check in at
http://www.yorkpistol.blogspot.com for monthly details.
Our events are designed to be 6 round pistol friendly for
revolvers and autos alike. To add a little spice, pistol
caliber carbines are also welcome most months (yes, .22lr
standard velocity counts).
Shooters of all skill levels are encouraged to attend the
Fun Shoots, and we are VERY family friendly. All we ask is
that you know how to safely and competently handle and fire
the gun you bring. This is a great introduction to entry
level organized shooting in a stress free, non competitive
environment. We don't ask much in the way of equipment, or
experience, just that you are safe at all times, and we will
help you in any way we can.
The details:
-Our fun shoots are un-timed events, featuring a variety of
targets; paper, steel, bowling pins, clay birds, even the
food of the month. Anything is possible.
-The emphasis is on safety and fun.
-The only gear requirement are that the gun holds 6 rounds
minimum of a standard pistol caliber cartridge, and you have
a safe way of carrying it around the range (holster, bag,
box, whatever). No high powered rifle conversions, sub gun,
or steel core rounds please, they hurt our steel targets.
-Winners at the Fun Shoots generally win bragging rights,
with a team trophy shoot in September.
No advance registration necessary.
Setup at 8:30am, registration starts around 9:15 am and
shooting at 10:00am. Cost is still $15.
